Hyun Bin and Lee Dong Wook set the Toronto International Film Festival’s (TIFF) red carpet ablaze with excitement during the world premiere of their film Harbin on September 9th (KST). Attending alongside director Woo Min Ho, the two stars caused a stir as fans eagerly shared photos and videos of their arrival on social media.

From the moment the actors stepped out of their vehicle, loud cheers erupted. In several videos, fans can be heard shouting “You look amazing!” in not-so-fluent Korean. Both Hyun Bin and Lee Dong Wook graciously took their time to greet fans, sign autographs, and pose for photos, creating a memorable moment on the red carpet.

TIFF’s official X even noted the overwhelming reception, saying, “probably the loudest carpet of the festival so far,” emphasizing the stars’ impact and the fan frenzy they generated.

After the red carpet, the film Harbin had its world premiere screening. The audience inside the theater greeted the film with just as much enthusiasm, giving it a standing ovation. Hyun Bin later shared, “I wanted to convey the gratitude and sincerity of our freedom fighters who sacrificed for our country.”

Harbin tells the story of those who traveled to Harbin, China, in 1909 with one goal, and the people who chased them. The movie focuses on the assassination of Ito Hirobumi, the mastermind behind Japan’s invasion of Korea, by independence fighter Ahn Jung Geun. Hyun Bin stars as Ahn Jung Geun, while Lee Dong Wook plays Lee Chang Seop, a fellow independence fighter, in a special appearance. The cast also includes Park Jung Min, Jeon Yeo Bin, Park Hoon, and Yoo Jae Myung, under the direction of Woo Min Ho, known for his work on Inside Men and The Man Standing Next.

On the 10th, Hyun Bin and Lee Dong Wook are set to participate in one of TIFF’s main programs, In Conversation With, where they will engage in a dialogue with audiences about the film.

Meanwhile, Harbin is set to hit theaters this December.
