Detective Jeong Chang Gil has shared updates on the late Goo Hara’s safe theft case.

On the July 17th episode of tvN’s You Quiz on the Block, the show featured Detective Jeong Chang Gil, a top expert in composite sketching for the violent crime unit, as a guest.

During the show, host Yoo Jae Suk mentioned, “I heard you’re the artist behind the composite sketches on ‘Unanswered Questions’ and that you drew the sketch for the late Goo Hara’s safe theft case. How did you feel when the ‘Unanswered Questions’ team asked you to create the composite sketch?”

Detective Jeong responded, “It was challenging. The style was similar to the footage from the Yeongju murder case’s CCTV. In this case, the suspect’s eyes were obscured, and they were wearing a mask and beanie, making it very difficult to identify them. It took a long time to draw the sketch. I watched the CCTV footage for two days straight, trying to capture distinguishing features.”

He continued, “From the CCTV, we could determine physical characteristics like body type, age, height, and weight. Based on my experience, I estimated the suspect’s height using the height of the walls and blocks and deduced that the suspect is likely in their late 20s to early 30s and approximately 175 cm tall.”

Detective Jeong then added, “A professional thief wouldn’t typically enter through the front door. It’s likely someone who knew the front door’s code and was aware of (Goo Hara’s) 49th-day memorial service.” He further speculated on the possibility of accomplices, “The safe weighed over 30 kg, and it was carried out through the second-floor railing, suggesting that there might have been an accomplice.”

When Yoo Jae Suk asked, “Are you receiving many tips?” Detective Jeong confirmed, “We’ve received quite a number of tips.” To which Yoo Jae Suk added, “I hope the culprit is caught soon.”
