K-drama fans around the world will have the opportunity to vote for the winners of the prestigious Asia Star Awards and OST Awards at the Seoul Drama Awards 2024. The Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee and TNK Factory announced that From June 15 to July 14, fans around the world will be able to vote for the Asia Star Award for Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore as well as the Drama OST Award using the app Idol Champ voting.
The Asia Star Award aims to recognize drama actors who have garnered love and support in six Asian countries over the past year, and separate awards will be given to both male and female actors.
Korean nominees include Kim Soo Hyun (Queen of Tears), Byeon Woo Seok (Lovely Runner), Cha Eun Woo (Wonderful World), Song Kang (My Demon), Suho (Missing Crown Prince), Junho (King the Land) , Chae Jong Hyeop (Castaway Diva), Kim Ji Won (Queen of Tears), Park Bo Young (Daily Dose of Sunshine), Kim Hye Yoon (Lovely Runner), YoonA (King the Land) and Go Youn Jung (Moving). This tough competition includes popular couples such as Queen of Tears’ Baek-Hong couple and Lovely Runner’s Sol-Seon couple.
Renowned actors are also competing for the award in other countries, including Thailand’s Blue Pongtiwat Tangwancharoen, famous for the Netflix series Ready Set Love, and Poompat Iam-samang, from the Thai remake of the Korean series Start -Up, are nominated. On the Philippines side, Kim Chiu is in contention, while Emily Chan represents Malaysia and Singapore favorite Desmond Tan and Indonesia’s Ochi Rosdiana are also in the race. The inclusion of emerging markets this year highlights the importance of cultural exchange in the region.
As for the OST Award, the vote will be on K-drama theme songs and their artists. Contestants include Crush (Queen of Tears), Seventeen’s Seungkwan (Tell Me That You Love Me), NewJeans (My Demon), (G)I-DLE’s Miyeon (My Dearest), and BTOB’s Seo Eunkwang (Cheif Detective 1958).
A full list of nominees will be available on the Idol Champ app starting June 15, and various events will offer tickets to the awards ceremony to be held on September 25 at KBS Hall, as well as prizes for voters who will participate.
