There are many K-Dramas where the chemistry between the two main characters can create some pretty steamy moments. However, some scenes that are supposed to be sexy fall flat and leave viewers feeling uncomfortable. Here are some recent moments that particularly made viewers wince.
1- A Killer Paradox
In “A Killer Paradox,” Choi Woo Shik plays a university student who accidentally kills someone in a moment of anger. The character seeks release from his guilt by having sex, but he is haunted by visions of the person he killed during the act, while the woman is on top of him. Plus, he remains fully clothed, which makes the situation even more awkward. The character again attempts to have sex to rid himself of his guilt, but is again assailed by visions of his victim, making the scene even more awkward and disturbing.
2- Parasite
The infamous couch sex scene in “Parasite” showed the Kim family playing unwilling voyeurs to the wealthy Park couple, who pretended to be poor during the act. Unlike some other sex scenes mentioned here, this one was deliberately designed to be awkward, according to director Bong Joon Ho.
3- The Worst Of Evil
“The Worst Of Evil” is set in the 1990s and follows undercover police investigators who infiltrate a criminal organization responsible for drug trafficking between Korea, China and Japan. In one scene, Lee Hae Ryeon, a Korean-Chinese drug distributor played by Bibi, forces kisses on undercover agent Park Jun Mo/Kwon Seung Ho, played by Ji Chang Wook. This exaggerated kiss and its non-consensual nature sparked many mixed reactions.
4- Marry My Husband
The story “Marry My Husband” is taken from the webtoon of the same name, which tells the story of a sick woman discovering that her husband is cheating on her with her best friend before being killed and waking up ten years in the past. Actress Park Min Young plays the female lead, while Lee Yi Kyung plays the unfaithful husband. In a scene set after the wife returns to the past, she encounters her future husband coming out of the shower. He then attempts to seduce her, but fails miserably, creating one of the most embarrassing bedroom scenes ever.
5- The Modelizer
Although not strictly a Korean film, “The Modelizer” stars 2PM’s Nichkhun as the male lead’s best friend. In one of the scenes, Nichkhun participates in a group sex with his friend and two women. The scene shows the two men chatting while having sex, which wasn’t really seen as very sensual.
