Suzy recently shared her thoughts on filming romantic scenes with Park Bo Gum for their new movie Wonderland.
The press conference for Wonderland, directed by Kim Tae Yong, took place on the afternoon of May 31st at Megabox COEX in Gangnam, Seoul. Director Kim Tae Yong, along with actors Tang Wei, Suzy, Park Bo Gum, Jung Yu Mi, and Choi Woo Shik, attended the event to discuss their new film.
Having previously worked together as hosts for the Baeksang Arts Awards, Suzy and Park Bo Gum reunited in Wonderland as an on-screen couple. Park Bo Gum plays Tae Joo, who wakes up from a coma and experiences confusion, while Suzy portrays Jung In, who revives her comatose boyfriend through the “Wonderland” service.
Park Bo Gum remarked, “It was an enjoyable experience. When reading from Tae Joo’s perspective, I pondered, ‘What kind of story did these two have?’ and ‘How did they express their feelings for each other?’ I discussed these questions extensively with Director Kim and Suzy. I remember we took many photos of each other at the time.”
He added, “We tried to capture Tae Joo and Jung In’s untold story and beautiful youth in photos. We had frequent readings and gradually built their narrative. The story revolves around a service where you can video call someone you miss. I imagined such a day would come soon, and it’s better that the movie is released now (after my military discharge). I’m happy and grateful to reconnect with the audience after a long time.”
Suzy also shared, “I have so many good memories of acting as lovers with Bo Gum. To create a couple that felt like old friends, we did a lot of prop shooting, readings, and videos. As we accumulated these experiences, our on-screen chemistry became solid.”
Wonderland tells the story of a video call service that uses AI to recreate deceased loved ones, allowing people to reconnect with them. The film will hit the theaters on June 5th.
