“Chief Detective 1958” has unveiled new stills ahead of the upcoming episode!

MBC’s “Chief Detective 1958” is the prequel to the classic Korean series “Chief Inspector,” which ran for 18 years from 1971 to 1989 and achieved an incredible peak of 70 percent ratings back in its heyday. While the original show was set in the 1970s and 1980s (present day at the time), “Chief Detective 1958” is set even earlier, in 1958. Lee Je Hoon plays a younger version of the titular chief detective Park Young Han, who was played by Choi Bool Am in the original series.

The previous episode concluded with the discovery of a woman’s body wearing a Dongsan Textile uniform at the bottom of a cliff.

In the newly released stills, Lee Yang Ja (Kim Eun Bi), a female worker from Dongsan Textile and a friend of Bong Nan Sil (Jung Soo Bin), visits the Jongnam Police Station. Previously, Lee Yang Ja had told Bong Nan Sil that her colleagues had been disappearing one by one each month, which she reported. However, all these reports were recorded by Investigation Team 2 as “false reports,” raising suspicions. Listening to Lee Yang Ja’s story, Park Young Han’s facial expression is serious. The reactions of Kim Sang Soon (Lee Dong Hwi), Cho Kyung Hwan (Choi Woo Sung), and Seo Ho Jung (Yoon Hyun Soo), who look at Investigation Team 2 with suspicion, are also notable.

Park Young Han is seen raiding the textile factory, the starting point of all incidents, and subduing someone for arrest. The person he is subduing is Kwon Hyung Geun (Kim Tae Jung), the factory’s owner and a member of the Jongnam Fourth Confucius, a group of high-ranking officials’ sons. Kwon Hyung Geun, who often had suspicious conversations with the factory manager, is now suspected of being linked to the missing female workers, making the investigation’s direction even more intriguing.

In the upcoming episode, the body of Kim Soon Jung, the fifth missing female worker, is found, prompting Park Young Han to start the investigation, suspecting the group of the high-ranking officials’ sons.

The production team stated, “The shocking misdeeds of the Jongnam Fouth Confucius, including the primary suspect Kwon Hyung Geun, Jung Hee Sung (Lee Bong Joon), Nam Jung Gil (Kim Min), and No Yoon Hak (Cho Min Kyu), will be revealed. Furthermore, the conflict between Baek Do Seok (Kim Min Jae), who has been secretly colluding with them since his appointment as the chief of Jongnam Police Station, and Park Young Han will intensify.”

The upcoming episode of “Chief Detective 1958” airs on May 17 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
