The music video for KISS OF LIFE’s latest tune, “Sticky,” has sparked a heated debate among K-pop fans over its provocative content.
Released on the 1st, the “Sticky” music video quickly shot to the top of a video platform’s trending list, garnering a lot of attention. However, specific scenes in the video have made some viewers frown.
“Sticky” is a lively summer track with a refreshing vibe, filmed in a seamless one-take style against the stunning backdrop of Poland. Despite its cheerful atmosphere, the music video has faced criticism for being overly sexualized. The scenes in question feature the group members lying down while performing hip-thrusting choreography, with male dancers suggestively dancing behind them. Some netizens reacted negatively, commenting, “The hip dance was intentional, wasn’t it?” and “That was a bit over the top.”
Another controversial scene involves member Julie riding a bicycle. The camera closely follows her from behind, emphasizing specific body parts and movements, which some viewers found objectionable. Comments included, “The bicycle scene made me go, ‘Huh?’” and “The outfit is fine, but the camera angles are just…” They also took issue with the excessive use of twerking, which they felt didn’t match the song’s overall vibe.
On the other hand, many fans defended the video. Comments like “What’s wrong with adult members doing a sexy concept?” “They just look like hot girls to me…” and “It doesn’t seem so different from their previous dances.” showed strong support. Others noted, “The choreography isn’t that extreme,” and “It gave the music videos from pop artists.”
Despite the controversy, the song itself has received widespread praise. Fans lauded the group with comments such as, “The song is amazing,” “KISS OF LIFE really nailed it with this track,” “I hope KISS OF LIFE gets even bigger,” and “Listening to their music is so refreshing.”
