MBC’s 2024 Idol Star Athletics Championships (ISAC), the iconic holiday show, is set to return with an impressive lineup. Known for bringing top K-pop idols together in various sports competitions, this year’s ISAC promises even more excitement after a two-year hiatus.
This year’s event will feature five sports categories: track and field, archery, futsal, dance sports, and the newly introduced breaking (breakdancing). Boasting a star-studded MC lineup, including Jeon Hyun Moo, Jang Min Ho, Youngtak, Lee Chan Won, Kang Daniel, Haewon, and Jeong Dong Won, the competition is already drawing huge attention following the release of a teaser on the 10th.
The teaser highlights the heated competition between rising stars like ZEROBASEONE’s Zhang Hao, NMIXX’s Sullyoon, TWS’s Shinyu, and ILLIT’s Wonhee. With the tagline “A fierce showdown between rookies,” the teaser showcases a particularly intense moment from the archery event, where one idol perfectly hits an X10, stirring even more excitement.
Making a much-anticipated return are legendary Idol Star Athletics competitors Yoon Du Jun and Kim Dong Jun, who will be competing in futsal, uniting fans across generations as they aim to make new history for the show.
This year’s ISAC will also introduce the breaking event, a sport newly added to the Paris 2024 Olympics. The teaser reveals high-energy performances from idol competitors and lively reactions from judge Monica, as well as the enthusiastic cheers from fellow idols in the audience, building excitement for the event.
The 2024 ISAC will air in three parts, with the first episode premiering on Monday, September 16th at 6 PM, followed by the second and third parts on Tuesday and Wednesday at 5:30 PM KST.
