In episode 12 of “Crash”, Deputy Commissioner Pyo Myung-hak (Heo Jung-do) disbands the TCI. The head of the TCI, Captain Chae-man (Heo Seong-tae), along with other members: Yeon-ho, So-hee, Hyeon-gyeong and Dong-hi are reassigned to various units. Yeon-ho ends up on Hwapyeong Island, where he becomes involved in the case of a missing teenage girl.
He contacts his former colleagues at TCI to involve them in resolving the case. Chae-man arrives on Hwapyeong Island and reunites with the other TCI members. They discover that residents have recently sold land to build resorts and cafes. Meanwhile, Yeon-ho (Lee Min-ki) learns that Seunga was quite lonely and had no friends, according to one of his classmates. However, this comrade saw her with a young man before her disappearance. They narrow down the list of potential cars, eliminating visitors from outside the island and focusing on locals.
Afterwards, they discover a video showing a silver Stallone with a damaged bumper on the road leading to the cliff where Seunga’s shoes were found. Episode 12 of “Crash” takes an intriguing turn as the TCI team decides to search for other surveillance cameras around the area to get more clues about Seunga’s disappearance.
In episode 12 of “Crash”, the TCI team finally arrives at the mountainous region owned by the Gi family, which serves as a cemetery. Yeon-ho remembers that one of the owners of the silver car was Gi Hyung-soo. However, he has an alibi: he was at a sushi restaurant with some local residents at the time of Seunga’s disappearance. After questioning people at the sashimi restaurant, TCI members confirmed Gi Hyung-soo’s alibi. Furthermore, the village chief gets angry at the suspicions and calls Seunga’s family troublemakers, because his father refused to contribute to the development of the island.
The next day, Yeon-ho and So-hee go looking for the remains of the old car on Gi Mountain and find Seunga’s headphones. Hyeon-Gyeong (Choi Moon-hee) calls to report that they spotted a suspicious car. Dong-gi (Lee Ho-chul) informs the TCI team that the silver Stallone car belongs to Im Ji-sook, head of the women’s society. Yeon-ho calls Im Ji-sook to question him and shows him the VINS of Hyung-soo’s current car that match his car. Im Ji-sook maintains his innocence as Hyung-soo and another man enter the room accompanied by the village chief. Hyung-soo claims to have swapped the license plates on Im Ji-sook’s car as a joke, and the other man admits to witnessing it.
TCI suspects everyone involved in Seunga’s disappearance and believes that Hyung-soo, Im Ji-sook and the village chief are protecting each other. Yeon-ho comes up with a plan and announces to the island residents that they are about to discover Seunga’s body, and that a technician will arrive soon to track his location using his wireless headphones. Later, Yeon-ho and So-hee decide to monitor the mountain cemetery and see the four individuals: Hyung-soo, Im Ji-sook, the village chief and another man arriving at the scene. The four were accompanied by the local policeman, Mr. Shin, and they decided to dig up the buried body since TCI was about to apprehend them.
Meanwhile, Chae-man breaks into Hyung-soo’s warehouse and finds Seunga tied up, while the TCI squad arrests the others at the mountain grave site. Seunga tells the TCI team about her friend Armin, who she had given headphones so he could listen to a song while they were both walking on the road that night. A car, driven by a drunk Mr. Shin, crashes into them, and Armin pushes Seunga to protect her. As a result, Armin is hit by the car and dies instantly, while Seunga loses consciousness. Hyung-soo, Im Ji-sook, the village chief were all present in the car with Mr. Shin, and they decided to bury both Seunga and Armin for protection.
In episode 12 of “Crash”, after Seunga reveals the story, Chae-man tells the TCI team how Mr. Shin, Hyung-soo and Im Ji-sook, the village chief, were once children poor people living on the island. They suffered mistreatment and banded together to commit crimes and bury bodies in secret. Later, as adults, the four became the leaders of Hwapyeong Island and continued their hidden crimes. Episode 12 of “Crash” then shows the TCI members discussing the resurrection of the TCI unit, but Chae-man announces that he has resigned from the police force.
Meanwhile, the other four (Yeon-ho, So-hee, Hyeon-gyeong, and Dong-hi) receive promotions and rewards for solving the missing girl case. The team finds themselves in the TCI office at the end of episode 12, now supervised by the National Bureau of Investigation. Before Yeon-ho and So-hee leave for the hospital in the last scene of “Crash,” Yeon-ho calls his teammates to chase a driver on the road and asks them to join him. Chae-man sighs affectionately as he notices that nothing has changed as So-hee, Hyeon-gyeong, and Dong-hi rush to help Yeon-ho.
