MBC’s “When the Phone Rings” has dropped new stills from its upcoming episode!
Based on a popular web novel, “When the Phone Rings” tells the story of Baek Sa Eon (Yoo Yeon Seok) and Hong Hee Joo (Chae Soo Bin), a couple that married for convenience—and the romance that blossoms between them after a threatening phone call.

Previously, Baek Sa Eon revealed for the first time, in front of police officers, that he is married to Hong Hee Joo, marking a new chapter in their relationship. Still wary of Ji Sang Woo (Heo Nam Jun), Sa Eon pressed Na Yu Ri (Jang Gyuri) for information about him, staying on guard. Toward the end, Hee Joo talked to Sa Eon while pretending to be a blackmailer and insulted herself to Sa Eon. Sa Eon responded firmly, saying, “Hee Joo is not an appendix, but a whole new language. Don’t speak carelessly about my wife,” expressing his deep affection for her in a crucial moment.
The newly released stills feature Sa Eon, Hee Joo, Sang Woo, and Yu Ri sharing a meal in a tense atmosphere. Sa Eon stares intently at Sang Woo, his expression serious and unyielding. Sang Woo, however, avoids eye contact, amplifying the tension. His unusually cold demeanor hints at something deeper, as the meeting sets the stage for Sang Woo to strike back at Sa Eon, who has been secretly investigating him.
Sang Woo’s unexpected move unsettles Sa Eon, further escalating their conflict and misunderstandings. Viewers are left eager to discover what Sang Woo will say to Sa Eon during the confrontation.
Meanwhile, Hee Joo, visibly uneasy, watches the tense standoff between the two men, leaving viewers curious about how she will navigate the situation. The tension deepens when a single remark from Yu Ri disrupts the atmosphere, plunging the room into an uneasy silence.
The next episode of “When the Phone Rings” will be extended by 10 minutes and airs on December 6 at 9:40 p.m. KST!
