MBC’s upcoming drama “When the Phone Rings” has shared behind-the-scenes photos of its cast ahead of the premiere!
Based on a popular web novel, “When the Phone Rings” tells the story of Baek Sa Eon (Yoo Yeon Seok) and Hong Hee Joo (Chae Soo Bin), a couple that married for convenience—and the romance that blossoms between them after a threatening phone call.
Yoo Yeon Seok is fully immersed in his role, frequently reviewing the script and collaborating with the production team to perfect each scene. His commitment to capturing every detail has been evident throughout filming.
Chae Soo Bin, playing a sign language interpreter, is seen practicing sign language rigorously even during breaks. Her efforts have impressed the team, with director Park Sang Woo noting that her skills are so strong that experts have suggested she add “sign language interpreter” to her resume. Viewers’ anticipation is high for her excellent performance as a sign language interpreter.
Yoo Yeon Seok and Chae Soo Bin have been spotted warmly reviewing scenes together, and their natural chemistry, as seen in stills, is already generating excitement. Yoo Yeon Seok shared, “It felt a bit awkward at first, but just like our characters Sa Eon and Hee Joo, who evolve in their marriage, we have grown closer over time, creating a positive atmosphere on set. I even learned sign language with Chae Soo Bin.”
Heo Nam Jun and Jang Gyuri are also fully committed to their roles, keeping their scripts close and showing true dedication as lead actors. Their intense focus on their characters’ emotions and serious approach to filming have raised anticipation for their performances. Heo Nam Jun shared, “Working with Jang Gyuri has been fun. The more we talked on set, the better our chemistry became, which was exciting.” Since their characters are new additions not found in the original work, viewers are curious to see the fresh dynamic they will bring.
