Yim Si Wan has opened up about working with former BIGBANG member T.O.P on Squid Game 2.

During the interview on the 9th, Yim Si Wan reflected on his past encounters with BIGBANG during his idol days: “Back then, BIGBANG was the celebrity among celebrities. We rarely saw them because each group had separate waiting rooms, and just getting a greeting from BIGBANG was a huge talking point. We’d be like ‘Did they just look at us?’ and Kwanghee would say ‘I think they just checked out what you were wearing’—that kind of thing.”

In the series, Yim plays Lee Myung Gi, a YouTuber who used to run a cryptocurrency investment channel, pitting him against Thanos (T.O.P), who seeks revenge after suffering massive losses following Lee’s investment advice.

Recalling their action sequences, Yim revealed T.O.P’s remarkable commitment despite an injury. “We attended action school together to get in sync. We were both going all out in the action scenes, and there was this moment where we both went airborne during a falling scene. That’s when T.O.P broke his rib,” he shared. “I’ve broken my ribs before, so I know how painful and excruciating it is. You can’t even breathe properly at that point—you should stop, but T.O.P just kept going. That’s when I realized his experience was on another level.”

When asked about viewers rediscovering his past as a member of ZE:A, the actor shared, “People around me have been saying they didn’t even realize I was an idol. I guess I’m getting older because I wasn’t particularly surprised by that reaction.”

Addressing the mixed reactions to T.O.P’s acting, Yim offered a thoughtful perspective: “Acting is subjective, so there’s bound to be different opinions. All I know is that if I had to play the role of Thanos, I don’t think I could have done it—at least not as well as he did.”
