As MBC’s romantic thriller When the Phone Rings approaches its finale, stars Yoo Yeon Seok and Chae Soo Bin have shared their most memorable scenes alongside unreleased stills from the hit series.
The show has captivated audiences with its perfect chemistry between the leads, prompting praise such as “this drama doesn’t have a single acting misstep,” “the casting team deserves an award,” and “no one but Yoo Yeon Seok and Chae Soo Bin could play Baek Sa Eon and Hong Hee Ju.”
The newly released stills capture the couple’s everyday moments, specifically from a scene where Hee Ju imagines a happy future with Sa Eon.
Yoo Yeon Seok selected the sign language scene as the drama’s standout moment: “Sa Eon and Hee Ju had communication barriers, but when Sa Eon learns sign language and says ‘I look forward to working with you, Interpreter Hong Hee Ju,’ it was particularly moving. It touched my heart during filming and watching it on air.”
Chae echoed her co-star’s choice, explaining, “Though Sa Eon initially didn’t know sign language, he learned it to speak Hee Ju’s language, creating these intimate moments that must have felt so special and warm for Hee Ju.”
Meanwhile, last week’s episodes 9 and 10 showcased the couple’s unshakeable bond as they vowed to protect each other. The story reached a shocking turn when Hee Ju, after being kidnapped again, chose to sacrifice herself alongside her kidnapper (Park Jae Yoon) to protect Sa Eon. Viewers are on edge, wondering if Hee Ju will return to Sa Eon’s side and how their devoted love story will conclude.
When the Phone Rings airs its penultimate episode tonight with the finale scheduled for tomorrow at 9:50 PM KST on MBC.
