Upcoming JTBC drama “The Tale of Lady Ok” has shared a teaser!
“The Tale of Lady Ok” tells the intense survival con game of Ok Tae Young (Lim Ji Yeon), who fakes her name, status, and even her husband, and Cheon Seung Hwi (Choo Young Woo), who risks everything to protect her. Lim Ji Yeon’s character Goo Deok Yi is a servant forced to live as Lady Ok Tae Young, showcasing two very different sides of the same person.
Lim Ji Yeon portrays Goo Deok Yi, a slave born to enslaved parents who suffers under a cruel master. Despite enduring harsh treatment, Goo Deok Yi is intelligent, athletic, and skilled with her hands. She is also beautiful and has a kind heart, always willing to help others, even in tough situations. However, she hides these qualities to avoid provoking the anger of her cruel owner.
The released teaser begins with flashbacks of Goo Deok Yi’s terrible and miserable past as a slave. Scenes of her enduring brutal beatings while covered in blood on a cold winter day and being chased by a group of people in the mountains reflect the dangerous situations she has faced and showcase her unwavering determination to survive.
In one scene, tears roll down Goo Deok Yi’s cheeks as she says, “My dream is to die of old age. I want to age beautifully and die without being beaten to death or starving to death.
Following these heartbreaking scenes, the video transitions to reveal Goo Deok Yi transformed into a beautiful young lady with neatly tied hair, elegant shoes, and refined handwriting, contrasting sharply with her previous appearance. At the end of the video, with tears in her eyes, Goo Deok Yi, disguised as Lady Ok Tae Young, confesses, “I am the fake Ok Tae Young, a runaway slave.”
