Upcoming drama “The Queen Who Crowns” has released a new teaser!
“The Queen Who Crowns” tells the story of Queen Wongyeong (Cha Joo Young), a kingmaker who dreamed of a new world in the early days of the Joseon dynasty and made her husband Lee Bang Won (Lee Hyun Wook) a king with whom she shared the power of the throne. Although she was described in historical records only as “King Taejong’s wife” or “Mrs. Min” without her full name, the drama will reimagine history from the perspective of Queen Wongyeong, who lived an independent life without losing herself in spite of devastating betrayals and harsh reality.
The teaser opens with Queen Wongyeong’s question, “What exactly does it mean to be a woman of Joseon?” Born into one of Goryeo’s most prestigious families, Wongeong is intelligent and self-assured. She chose her own path in everything including love, and took full responsibility for her decisions. Despite her husband Lee Bang Won facing internal struggles for killing his younger siblings and being cast aside by his father Yi Seong Gye (Lee Sung Min), Wongeong remained unwaveringly by his side until he ascended to the throne.
However, after Lee Bang Won becomes the third king of Joseon, cracks begin to appear in their relationship. Although they achieved royal power together, Lee Bang Won starts to restrain his wife. In one scene, he even states that she is overstepping her bounds and refuses to visit her chambers. Feeling betrayed by his change, Wongeong confronts him, asking, “Is this how you’ve changed after gaining power?”
The teaser also introduces Yi Seong Gye, who stands in opposition to his rebellious son Lee Bang Won. The teaser ends with his intense threat, “I will turn that throne into a living hell!”
