KBS2’s upcoming weekend drama “Iron Family” (literal title) has shared a sneak peek of the first script reading!
Penned by screenwriter Seo Sook Hyang of “Pasta,” “Don’t Dare to Dream” (also known as “Jealousy Incarnate”), and “Wok of Love,” “Iron Family” is a dark comedy that follows a family running a laundry business for three generations. One day, they get unexpected money by chance, allowing them to smooth out the wrinkles in their lives and pursue their dreams.
Director Sung Joon Hae and writer Seo Sook Hyang were present at the script reading along with cast members Kim Jung Hyun, Geum Sae Rok, Park Ji Young, Shin Hyun Joon, Choi Tae Joon, Yang Hye Ji, and more.
Kim Jung Hyun flawlessly delivered Seo Kang Joo’s lines, balancing comedy and seriousness and filling the room with laughter. Meanwhile, Geum Sae Rok naturally embodied Lee Da Rim, who suffers from an incurable illness, portraying her situation with depth. The two leads, Kim Jung Hyun and Geum Sae Rok, showcased their chemistry, bringing smiles to everyone watching.
Park Ji Young transformed into Go Bong Hee, a self-sacrificing mother, showcasing her strong acting skills. Shin Hyun Joon, as Jiseung Group Chairman Ji Seung Don, exuded charisma and displayed sweet chemistry with Kim Hye Eun, who plays his wife Baek Ji Yeon. Kim Hye Eun energized the set with her lovely and ambitious character, a departure from her previous roles.
Choi Tae Joon, playing Cha Tae Woong, a diligent laundry worker, stood out with his dependable portrayal, convincingly portraying the part of Da Rim’s protective older brother. Yang Hye Ji, as Da Rim’s sister Lee Cha Rim, showcased her character’s passion for her job as a designer, perfectly syncing with her role. Veteran actors Kim Young Ok and Park In Hwan added comedy with their impeccable acting, portraying a charming couple with delightful chemistry.
The script reading session was enhanced by the supporting cast’s participation, including Kim Sun Kyung as Yoon Mi Ok, Wang Ji Hye as Lee Mi Yeon, Jo Bok Rae as Nam Ki Doong, Kim Hyun Jun as Lee Moo Rim, and Ha Seo Yoon as Song Soo Ji. This strong ensemble of lead and supporting actors is expected to deliver an exceptional level of immersion in the drama.
The production team said, “The script reading session was both enjoyable and heartwarming from the start. The actors had such great chemistry that it was hard to believe it was their first time working together.” They added, “The story of a family in the same neighborhood is expected to bring viewers both touching emotions and joy.
