JTBC’s “Romance in The House” is gearing up for its premiere with behind-the-scenes looks from the drama’s script reading!
On July 17, JTBC shared photos and footage from their script reading session. In addition to director Kim Da Ye and scriptwriter Kim Young Yoon, actors Ji Jin Hee, Kim Ji Soo, Son Naeun, SHINee’s Minho, ASTRO’s Sanha, and more attended the script reading.
Ji Jin Hee plays the role of Byun Moo Jin, who returns to his family after 11 years while keeping a secret. He fully embraced the character with his distinctive acting skills, adding a profound charm that captivated the audience with Moo Jin’s rugged, macho persona. Additionally, he subtly conveyed the mystery surrounding Moo Jin, who suddenly appears as the building’s owner, creating a compelling presence.
Kim Ji Soo plays Geum Ae Yeon, who is ardently courted by Moo Jin. Kim Ji Soo shared her thoughts, saying, “‘Romance in the House’ is a special and meaningful project.” She portrayed Ae Yeon with a masterful balance of emotions, showing how her peace is shattered and life thrown into chaos by the return of her ex-husband Moo Jin, who is now the building owner. Above all, the family-like chemistry and perfect synergy between Ji Jin Hee and Kim Ji Soo, exchanging witty banter, drew attention to their story, which unfolds across both past and present.
Son Naeun portrays Byun Mi Rae, the eldest daughter aspiring to be a wonder woman to protect her mother. Son Naeun infused Mi Rae’s steadfast determination as the family’s pillar with her vibrant energy, bringing the character to life. As the devoted eldest daughter, she portrays a tender mother-daughter bond with Ae Yeon but vehemently opposes any reconciliation with Moo Jin, intensifying the family drama.
Ji Jin Hee teased confidently, “Moo Jin wants to reunite with his family, Mi Rae pushes him away, and Ae Yeon is caught in the middle. These dynamics will be incredibly intriguing.” This intricate, emotionally charged family triangle heightens anticipation for the upcoming broadcast.
Meanwhile, Minho, boldly aiming to bring fun and excitement to the set, brought an additional layer of enjoyment with his natural charisma and budding romance with Mi Rae. Initially seeming like an ordinary taekwondo instructor and security guard at a large supermarket, behind the scenes, he effortlessly transforms into Nam Tae Pyeong, the youngest son of a conglomerate family. His subtle charm and acting prowess combined with Mi Rae’s intertwined family background promise intriguing chemistry to look forward to.
Sanha, playing the role of Byun Hyun Jae, the youngest son who resembles Moo Jin, radiated vibrant energy as he pledged to set the tone on set. His infectious enthusiasm brightened the scene. The distinctive chemistry developing between Hyun Jae and Moo Jin, with Hyun Jae being the sole supporter of Moo Jin’s comeback, is increasing interest in their story.
Jung Woong In showcased his skills as Nam Chi Yeol, the president of J Plus Mart and Nam Tae Pyeong’s father.
The production team emphasized, “The script was eagerly anticipated by all, and the actors had high expectations. Right from the first script rehearsal, the actors delivered great performances and genuine family-like chemistry, bringing every character to life and creating scenes filled with laughter. This is the real deal.”
They added, “We promised to showcase the passionate performances that prove our trustworthiness and will bring the show to viewers on August 10 with plenty of laughter and excitement. Please get ready and stay tuned.”
