With its premiere just around the corner, tvN’s upcoming drama “The Queen Who Crowns” has revealed a thrilling preview of its first episode!

“The Queen Who Crowns” will tell the story of the fiery life of Queen Won Kyung (Cha Joo Young), a kingmaker who dreamed of a new world in the early days of the Joseon dynasty and made her husband, Lee Bang Won (Lee Hyun Wook), a king with whom she shared the power of the throne. Although she was described in historical records only as “King Taejong’s wife” or “Mrs. Min” without her full name, the drama will reimagine history from the perspective of Queen Won Kyung, who lived an independent life without losing herself in spite of devastating betrayals and harsh reality.

The new video starts with a depiction of Lee Bang Won ascending to the throne, accompanied by Won Kyung’s resolute voiceover: “The world that will unfold for us from now on will definitely be different from before.”

The scene then shifts to show Lee Bang Won taking a concubine, a move that clearly upsets Won Kyung. The couple’s relationship takes a tense turn as she is seen turning her back on him and slapping the concubine across the cheek.

Tensions escalate as conflicts arise between Lee Bang Won and his father, Taejo Lee Seong Gye (Lee Sung Min). Won Kyung asks, “What, then, does duty mean to His Majesty?” to which Lee Seong Gye responds, “The sorrow of having to kill my son is my duty.” This exchange raises questions about how the complex relationship between the characters will evolve following King Taejong’s rise to power and what dramatic events lie ahead.
