My Sweet Mobster star Um Tae Goo shared his difficult times and the people who helped him during his early career on the August 7th episode of tvN’s You Quiz on the Block.

During the episode, host Yoo Jae Suk asked Um Tae Goo if he ever worried about making a living when he didn’t have any offers. Um Tae Goo candidly responded, “I worried a lot,” and shared that he found comfort in listening to Yoo Jae Suk’s song “As I Say.”

Um Tae Goo revealed, “Financially, I was 24 months behind on my rent.” Yoo Jae Suk expressed surprise, noting that two years is a long time. Um Tae Goo continued, “I felt so sorry because I had no income, but my landlord was very understanding. He would say, ‘You’re working hard. It’s tough these days, huh?’ and whenever I managed to pay a month’s rent, he would give me vitamins.”

Yoo Jae Suk marveled at the landlord’s kindness, to which Um Tae Goo added, “I lived in a rooftop apartment, and the landlord lived on the floor below. I even tried working at construction sites and doing event part-time jobs. I never imagined it would stretch to 24 months. But he kept saying it was okay. I would always clear the snow early in the morning so he had a clear path up and down the stairs. If there were packages, I would place them at his door. That was my way of repaying him. I wanted to make it big and quickly.”
