The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) has announced its latest batch of official certifications!
In 2020, the RIAJ implemented a new certification system for online streaming of songs, as an addition to its pre-existing certification systems for physical album shipments and digital download sales. According to the new system, songs are certified silver once they reach 30 million streams, gold at 50 million streams, and platinum at 100 million streams.
This month alone, TWICE earned no less than three new RIAJ certifications for streaming. Their hit 2021 English-language single “The Feels” was certified double platinum for surpassing 200 million streams in Japan alone, while their 2020 Japanese hit “Fanfare” went platinum after surpassing 100 million streams.
TWICE’s 2017 Korean hit “KNOCK KNOCK” was also certified gold for surpassing 50 million streams in Japan.
Meanwhile, LE SSERAFIM received two new RIAJ certifications: their 2023 hits “UNFORGIVEN” and “Perfect Night” were both certified platinum for reaching 100 million streams each.
Finally, ILLIT’s debut track “Magnetic,” BLACKPINK’s Jennie’s solo debut single “SOLO,” and SEVENTEEN’s 2021 title track “Ready to love” were all certified gold for surpassing 50 million streams each.
Congratulations to all of the artists!
