The second half of 2 promises to be rich in emotions for lovers of romantic K-dramas, with several series mixing fantasy elements with traditional stories or taken from webtoons which will be broadcast. Among the most anticipated romantic K-dramas is “My Sweet Mobster”. The list of new releases also includes “All The Love You Wish For”, “Red Swan” and many more. The release dates of most of these K-dramas have not yet been announced.
1- My Sweet Mobster
“My Sweet Mobster” is a recent release whose first episode aired on June 12, 2024. Directed by Kim Woo-Hyun and Kim Young-hwan, this K-drama stars Uhm Tae-goo and Han Sun- hwa in the main roles.
The story revolves around Seo Ji-hwan, played by Uhm Tae-goo, and his busy life. During his journey, he reconnects with an old friend, Go Eun-ha (Han Sun-hwa), and develops feelings for her. The K-drama focuses on their conflicting personalities, the evolution of their relationship, and the twists and turns that ensue.
2- Ask the Stars
Lee Min-ho is very busy with several projects in the works, including “Ask The Star,” his upcoming romantic K-drama. In this series, he will share the poster with Gong Hyo-jin.
Written by Seo Sook-hyang and directed by Park Shin-woo, the K-drama mixes elements of romance with science fiction. Eve Kim, played by Gong, is an astronaut working at a space station where Lee Min Ho, as Gong Ryong, arrives as a space tourist. The story revolves around convincing Gong Ryong of his feelings for Eve Kim. The release date has not yet been revealed.
3- Because I Want No Loss
“Because I Want No Loss” is an upcoming romantic K-drama set to release in 2024. Starring Shin Min-a and Kim Young-dae in the lead roles, the series tells the love story between Son Hae-young, a woman who marries fictitiously to protect her finances, and Kim Ji-wook, a man who agrees to be her fake husband to avoid harming her.
Directed by Kim Jeong-sik, the official release date of this romantic K-drama has not yet been disclosed.
4- Everything Will Come True
“Everything Will Come True” is a fantasy romance written by Kim Eun Sook and directed by Lee Byeong Heon, who has previously directed K-dramas such as “The Glory”, “Goblin”, “Secret Garden”, etc.
In this K-drama, Kim Woo-Bin plays a genie freed from a lamp after a thousand years, while Bae Suzy plays Ga-Young, a young woman who lacks a lot of emotion. The plot revolves around the granting of three wishes and all the comical twists and turns that occur along the way. The series will be broadcast on Netflix.
5- Red Swan
Kim Ha-neul plays the lead role in “Red Swan”, where she plays a golf player. His character becomes CEO of his foundation, bringing him worldwide fame. She hires Do-Yoon, played by Rain, as her bodyguard, and the K-drama follows their relationship as it evolves over time.
The 11 June Disney Plus has revealed the trailer for the K-drama, although the official release date has not yet been announced. In addition to these two actors, Jung Gyu-woon, Yoon Je-moon and Ki Eun-se will be part of this upcoming romantic K-drama.
