Park Ji Ah has passed away due to a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 52.
A close acquaintance of Park Ji Ah told JTBC Entertainment News on September 30th, “She recently collapsed due to a cerebral hemorrhage and was hospitalized, but she couldn’t recover. She was a passionate actress, and it’s heartbreaking.”
Park Ji Ah made her debut in 2002 with the movie The Coast Guard and was a member of the theater troupe Dimensional Shift Stage (literal translation). Known for her powerful acting, she left a strong impression with roles such as playing the ghost of Asako’s mother in the movie Epitaph (2007) and the ghost of the director in Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum (2018).
Most notably, she solidified her presence with the global hit Netflix original series The Glory, where she portrayed Jeong Mi Hee, the mother of Song Hye Kyo’s character Moon Dong Eun. Earlier this year, she performed in the play Wife and attended the VIP premiere of the film Wonderland in May.
Her memorial service has been arranged at Seoul Asan Medical Center’s funeral hall.
