“Squid Game” is unstoppable with its continued worldwide recognition as the blockbuster hit Netflix series is nominated at the 27th Critics Choice Awards.

The annual ceremony is scheduled on January 9, 2022, at The Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles and will broadcast live on The CW television network.

According to the announcement released by the Critics Choice Association, the thriller mystery Kdrama received not one but three nominations which include the best drama series, which is the only entry under Netflix.

On the other hand, the second nomination is for best foreign language series alongside “Acapulco” (Apple TV+), “Call My Agent!” (Netflix), “Lupin” (Netflix), “Money Heist” (Netflix) and “Narcos: Mexico” (Netflix)

Moreover, lead star Lee Jung Jae, who wowed the viewers with his impressive portrayal of the debt-ridden Seong Gi Hoon, scored a nod as the best actor in the drama series.

His fellow nominees include Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us,) Mike Colter (Evil,) Brian Cox (Succession,) Billy Porter (Pose) and Jeremy Strong (Succession.)

Lee Jung Jae’s Achievements After ‘Squid Game’

The nomination at the Critics Choice Awards 2021 is among the South Korean star’s latest achievements after landing the iconic role in “Squid Game.”

Although the award-winning actor is famous in their country, Lee Jung Jae has received overwhelming responses from fans and organizations worldwide.

The 48-year-old A-lister was nominated at the Gotham Awards 2021 for Outstanding Performance in a New Series but failed to win the trophy and lost to Ethan Hawke for his role in “The Good Lord Bird.”

Interestingly, the Netflix series secured an award for bagging Breakthrough Series – Long Format and eclipsing the British drama “It’s a Sin,” HBO’s satirical comedy-drama “The White Lotus,” “The Good Lord Bird,” “Small Axe,” and “The Underground Railroad.”

After his trip to the United States for a series of guesting and ceremonies, Lee Jung Jae scored a Daesang award known as the grand prize at the Asia Artist Awards 2021.

Hee took home Daesang – Actor of the Year while Yoo Ah In won Daesang – Film Actor of the Year and “Mouse” star Lee Seung Gi bagged Daesang – TV Actor of the Year.

It is safe to say that Lee Jung Jae’s achievements will continue to soar, especially director and screenwriter Hwang Dong Hyuk revealed that “Squid Game 2” will push through.

    Lee Jung Jae’s Directorial Debut

Apart from being a versatile actor and award-winning artist, Lee Jung Jae has delved into a new role, and this time, he is behind the camera.

The 48-year-old South Korean star will have his directorial debut for the action film “Hunt” alongside his celebrity friend and the equally talented Jung Woo Sung and the “Stranger 2” star Jeon Hye Jin.
