Fresh off the global success of Squid Game 2, Lee Jung Jae is once again at the center of Marvel Cinematic Universe casting rumors, according to ComicBookMovie.com.
The actor, who’s currently commanding attention in both Netflix’s Squid Game 2 and Disney Plus’s The Acolyte, may be the latest addition to the MCU roster. “We don’t have any details on who he might be in line to play, but there’s a chance it isn’t any one specific hero or villain,” the outlet reports, citing scooper MTTSH.

They elaborated that Marvel Studios COO Kevin Feige “has been known to reach out to actors he’s keen to work with without having a particular character in mind, and it’s also possible that Jung-jae was given a choice of several different roles.”
This isn’t the first time Lee Jung Jae has been linked to the superhero franchise. In 2022, U.S. webzine RPK editor Daniel Richtman revealed through his social media that the actor was in talks with Marvel Studios for an MCU role. At the time, rumors swirled around potential villain roles in Shang-Chi 2 or the Spider-Man franchise as Mister Negative.

If confirmed, Lee would become the fourth Korean actor to join the MCU, following Soo Hyun, aka Claudia Kim (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Ma Dong Seok, aka Don Lee (Eternals), and Park Seo Jun (The Marvels). His agency has maintained a cautious stance, stating, “We cannot share any position on this matter yet.”
Meanwhile, Lee’s star power continues to surge with Squid Game 2, where he reprises his role as Seong Gi Hun. According to FlixPatrol, the series has maintained its No. 1 position on Netflix’s TV series chart for six consecutive days with a total score of 930 points.
