After announcing the cast lineup, “Squid Game” season 2 continued to receive mixed reactions from the viewers, especially with Choi Seung Hyun coming on board for the sequel.

Besides the alleged connection with global superstar Lee Jung Jae, the K-pop star had a rocky process of joining the series.

Usually, before the table read, cast members are confirmed that they will be among the official cast members of an upcoming show.

However, as for the former BIGBANG member, he did not hear a confirmation from the streaming giant until the day of the script reading.

According to the outlet, Netflix, being a global company, “felt uncomfortable casting Choi Seung Hyun” due to his past controversies.

To recall, he got involved in drug issues back in June 2017, when he was accused of using marijuana.

At the time, the report stated that he was “actively” consuming cannabis and was sentenced to 10 months in prison and 2 years probation due to this.

Because of the backlash and the negativity, the K-Pop star expressed his intention to retire from the industry.
