Song Joong Ki shared his thoughts on his character in film Bogota: City of the Lost.

Song Joong Ki began by saying, “The character changes a lot depending on age and circumstances,” at the press conference for Bogotá: City of the Lost held on December 6th at Megabox COEX in Gangnam, Seoul.

He continued, “I think he’s one of the most ambitious characters I’ve played recently. He’s full of desire, and that desire is simple; it’s to survive. In a more positive light, you could call it a sense of responsibility.”

He added, “When I first read the script, I thought the beginning and end of the film were all tied to his father. But his father wasn’t a good example, so he feels a sense of responsibility to do something else with a burning desire to survive.”

Bogota’ is a film following Gukhee (Song Joong Ki), who travels to Bogota with new hopes after the IMF crisis. There, he meets Soo Yeong (Lee Hee Joon) and Sergeant Park (Kwon Hae Hyo), influential figures in the Korean community in Bogota. Song Joong Ki plays the role of Gukhee, a young man who dreams of rising from the bottom to the top.

Song Joong Ki expressed satisfaction with the film, saying, “I was curious about what would happen if the big and small conflicts among Koreans unfolded in an exotic setting. I think it turned out as well as I’d hoped.”

He further explained, “I usually don’t like to wear accessories. I’ve never bought any with my own money. However, after observing the people of Colombia, I thought about wearing earrings and cutting my hair short. It was a film where I tried many new things.”

Bogotá will premiere on December 31st.
