Song Hye Kyo has looked back on her career on tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block”!
On January 8, Song Hye Kyo appeared as a guest on “You Quiz on the Block,” starring in her first talk show in 23 years. The episode garnered an average nationwide viewership rating of 5.6 percent, scoring No. 1 in its time slot across all cable channels.
During the broadcast, Song Hye Kyo talked about her extensive career. She shared that when she was 17, she participated in a school uniform contest, winning the grand prize and debuting in “Soonpoong Clinic” the next year. Through the contest, she won 3 million won (approximately $2,000), which she used for her mother’s medical treatment costs.
Mentioning her classic K-drama “Autumn in My Heart,” Song Hye Kyo revealed that her co-star Song Seung Heon still refers to her as Eun Seo, her character in the drama. She revealed, “We meet up now and then in private, and when I open the door to enter, he has the ‘Autumn in My Heart’ OST playing and asks, ‘Eun Seo, have you arrived?’ I tell him to stop doing that.”
Regarding the rumors she faces while working in the industry, the actress shared, “When I have an interview or see people I’m not very familiar with, they sometimes ask about those rumors, but I tell them, ‘I also heard that. Ask the person who made the rumor. I don’t even know about it, so what can I say?’”
Song Hye Kyo continued, “I’ve seen so many malicious comments that I am okay now. I’m fine with malicious comments about me, but it breaks my heart a little when it’s directed to my family.”
On overcoming hardships, Song Hye Kyo shared, “You have to know how to love yourself.” She revealed that she found peace by taking screenwriter Noh Hee Kyung’s advice and writing 10 things she is grateful for throughout the day for five years.
The actress also talked about her goals going forward, sharing her positive outlook. She remarked, “I don’t really think about the past or future. The current moment is most important. As I grow older, I think I am offered more diverse roles.”
Song Hye Kyo is currently gearing up for the premiere of her new film “Dark Nuns.”
