Singer Kim Ho Joong‘s agency, Think Entertainment, is set to shut down following his arrest on charges of DUI hit-and-run. The decision comes after Kim was arrested on May 24th for allegedly fleeing the scene of the crash.
The agency issued a statement on May 27th apologizing for the disappointment caused by Kim Ho Joong’s actions and announcing that it would be dismissing all employees and replacing the CEO. “We also apologize to our agency’s artists for this incident,” the statement read. “We are reviewing whether to continue our management business. We will terminate exclusive contracts with our artists without any conditions, prioritizing their opinions.”
Kim Ho Joong’s agency is home to a number of well-known celebrities, including the group TAN, actors Son Ho Jun, Kim Kwang Kyu, Lee Cheol Min, Kong Jeong Hwan, Kim Seung Hyun, Kang Ye Seul, Kim Ho Chang, An Yeon In, singer Geum Jan Di, Ahn Ji Hwan, Hong Ji Yoon, Ahn Sung Hoon, YOUNG KI, Jung Da Kyung, broadcasters Han Young, Jung Ho Young, Bong Joong Geun, Lee Dong Gook, Heo Kyung Hwan, and Kim Sun Geun.
Public scrutiny now falls not only on Kim Ho Joong but also on other celebrities who have been present at the scene of the accident. The National Investigation Headquarters of the Korean National Police Agency revealed on May 27th that they had completed their investigation into a well-known celebrity who was with Kim. They indicated further investigations might be conducted if necessary.
Reports suggest these celebrities have longer careers than previously named TV personalities like Heo Kyung Hwan and Sleepy. One person, identified by the initial “A,” is currently on a hiatus due to health problems. The other person, a rapper identified by the initial “B,” is said to have appeared on a popular variety show.
Another point of interest is the fate of Think Entertainment’s office building in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam. The building’s estimated value sits at a staggering 7.6 billion won ($5.6 million), with the land itself valued at 3.4 billion won ($2.5 million) and the building at 4.2 billion won ($3 million)
