Sleepy expressed his gratitude toward DinDin and BTS’s RM during his appearance on the August 11th episode of The Return of Superman (Episode 536). In the episode, Sleepy spent time with his 106-day-old daughter Woo Ah and DinDin’s nephew Niccolo.
DinDin shared his close bond with Sleepy, saying, “Sleepy and I go back about 10 years. We’ve been through failure, success, sorrow, tears, happiness, and joy together.” He added, jokingly, “I know everything about Woo Ah’s journey, from the pregnancy to her life story. If it weren’t for me, Woo Ah wouldn’t exist.”
Sleepy responded with affection, saying, “I actually call DinDin’ hyung.’ From the beginning, DinDin was always the one paying for things. The most important thing is, after I got married, he gave us such a big gift—he bought us a refrigerator, among other things. Because of that, he really became my ‘hyung.’” DinDin humorously added, “Eight out of ten appliances in Sleepy’s house are probably from me.”
However, Sleepy surprised everyone by revealing, “But honestly, number one is BTS’s RM. He sent us a big gift—a million won (approx. 7,600 USD) as a wedding present,” which caused a stir in the studio.
DinDin then shared the backstory of their friendship, explaining, “When RM was rapping in the underground scene and BTS was being formed, someone asked Sleepy if he knew anyone good, and he recommended RM. That’s how BTS came to be.” He continued, “When RM heard Sleepy was getting married, he said, ‘I heard you’re getting married. Would you send me your bank account number?’ and then, just like that, he wired a million won.”
