JTBC has confirmed the cast of its new weekend drama “Family X Melo.” The main cast will be Ji Jinhee, Kim Jisoo, SHINee’s Minho, ASTRO’s Son Naeun and Sanha.
“Family X Melo” tells the story of a family shocked by the return of the father, abandoned by his family 11 years ago. He returns as the owner of their house. Ji Jinhee plays the role of Byun Moojin, a man who became a landlord after being disowned by his family due to his repeated failures in business. He returns after 11 years to win back his ex-wife, Geum Aeyeon. Moojin, now rich like Gatsby, reappears wherever Aeyeon goes, showering her with compliments.
Kim jisoo plays Geum Aeyeon, a resilient woman who, after divorcing Moojin, overcame many hardships while raising their two children alone. His strength and ability to overcome difficulties is largely due to his beloved daughter, Byun Mirae. Aeyeon currently works in a supermarket and has found some stability, but the sudden arrival of her ex-husband turns her life upside down.
Son Naeun plays the role of Byun Mirae, the daughter who took charge of rebuilding her family’s life after her father’s professional failures. She is a product manager in a major supermarket brand and takes on the role of head of the family. However, the unexpected return of his father threatens the family’s newfound stability. Mirae is determined to confront Moojin and show him how unrealistic his dream of family reconciliation is.
Minho from SHINee plays Nam Taepyeong, a former national athlete turned taekwondo instructor and supermarket security guard. When Mirae discovers that Taepyeong is actually the supermarket owner’s son, an intriguing relationship develops between them.
Sanha from ASTRO plays Byun Hyunjae, Mirae’s brother and the only family member to welcome Moojin’s return. At 23, Hyunjae is the family’s beloved troublemaker. Cute and full of life, Hyunjae enthusiastically supports his parents’ reconciliation.
“Family X Melo” will air on August 10 at 22:30 p.m. KST on JTBC.
