(S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8, Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon, Dino) will be taking a brief break from full-group activities as members Jeonghan and Jun embark on separate paths for the latter half of 2024. Pledis Entertainment shared an official statement on the 12th, outlining the plans for Jeonghan’s military enlistment and Jun’s focus on activities in China.
“Jeonghan is due to fulfill his military obligation in the second half of 2024. While Jeonghan filmed most of the content he could in advance, he will not be able to participate in promotional activities for the 12th mini album and the SEVENTEEN [RIGHT HERE] WORLD TOUR, scheduled to start in October,” the statement read. “Jeonghan will still be able to meet with CARATs through the previously announced fan signing event and Lollapalooza Berlin. Further details regarding Jeonghan’s military service will be provided later in a separate notice.”
Regarding Jun, Pledis added, “After thorough discussions with Jun and the other members of SEVENTEEN, we have decided that Jun will pursue acting and other opportunities in China during the latter half of this year.” They further elaborated, “Like Jeonghan, Jun has completed filming for content that could be prepared in advance. However, due to an overlap with the on-location filming schedule, Jun will not be able to participate in Lollapalooza Berlin, music show performances for the 12th mini album, and the SEVENTEEN [RIGHT HERE] WORLD TOUR.”
Although Jun will not be part of the world tour, he is determined to participate in SEVENTEEN’s group activities whenever possible. “We ask for your kind understanding and support for Jeonghan’s healthy completion of his military service and Jun’s upcoming projects,” Pledis concluded.
Following the announcement, SEVENTEEN members took to the fan community Weverse to show their support for Jeonghan and Jun. Given past sensitivities surrounding individual activities of Chinese members in K-pop groups, Jun expressed his regret to fans, saying, “I’m very sorry that I have to share this situation with my CARATs. I will work hard to complete every schedule, and I hope to present good work to my CARATs in the future. Please stay healthy, and I’ll work hard to return to you all as soon as possible. I love you.”
S.Coups emphasized the importance of the full group with a short but impactful “13~~,” while Wonwoo encouraged Jun with, “Jun, go and show the world another side of you.” Vernon simply wrote, “Good boy,” and Dino cheered with “Let’s go!!”
