BLACKPINK’s Rosé is creating a global sensation with her latest single APT., which has not only captured the public’s attention but also sparked curiosity about Korean drinking culture.

On the 20th, Vogue’s official YouTube channel released a video featuring Rosé where she makes kimchi fried rice and introduces “so-maek” (a mix of soju and beer). Opening the video with the signature dance move from APT.—also the key motion in Korea’s popular “APT Game”—Rosé shared, “So-maek is my favorite drink to drink while playing APT.”

Rosé explained the origins of her new song APT., saying, “APT is actually a Korean drinking game that I love to play with my friends.” When playing APT, players stack their hands and remove them one by one starting from the bottom. The person who pulls their hand on the designated floor must drink as punishment.

In the video, Rosé demonstrated how to mix soju and beer to create so-maek and introduced dried squid with spicy mayo as her favorite snack pairing.

Rosé’s new song “APT.,” known for its addictive lyrics and melody, has been making waves globally. The track, which features a collaboration with pop star Bruno Mars, has since topped various music charts with its powerful synergy. As of the 21st, “APT.” has hit number one on multiple Korean streaming platforms, including Melon’s Top 100 and Hot 100, as well as Genie Music and FLO. Globally, the song debuted at number three on Spotify’s Global chart and number eleven on U.S. Spotify, while it’s projected to enter the Billboard Hot 100 at number twelve.

This growing popularity has also made an impact in the financial sector. YG Entertainment, which manages BLACKPINK, saw its stock price rise by 3.72% to 39,000 KRW (approx. $29 USD) as of the 21st. Meanwhile, YG PLUS, responsible for distributing Rosé’s music, saw its shares jump by 29.85% to 3,480 KRW (approximately $2.60 USD), reaching the daily limit and marking the highest trading price in the past three months.
