tvN’s weekend drama, Queen of Tears, has soared to the top of Netflix’s charts, captivating audiences worldwide. Written by Park Ji Eun and directed by Jang Young Woo and Kim Hee Won, the series tells a miraculous love story of a married couple overcoming a dizzying crisis.
As of April 3rd, Netflix announced that Queen of Tears had clinched the number one spot in the Global TOP10 Series (Non-English) category for the week of March 25th to 31st, proving to be a global sensation. Since its release on March 9th, the series has accumulated a staggering 93.8 million hours watched.
According to FlixPatrol, a global OTT content ranking service, Queen of Tears has been ranked in the TOP10 in 68 countries worldwide, including the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, India, Greece, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina, covering both English and non-English TV series categories.
Even in Korea, the drama’s viewership continued to impress with its 8th episode on March 31st, recording an average rating of 17.9% in the Seoul metropolitan area, peaking at 20.2%, and a nationwide average of 16.1%, with a high of 18.2%. This marks four consecutive weeks of record-breaking viewership, dominating all channels during its timeslot, including terrestrial networks. Moreover, Queen of Tears has maintained its position as the most talked-about drama for four consecutive weeks on Good Data Corporation’s official platform FUNdex, which measures the competitiveness of K-content.
