Netflix has unveiled the star-studded casting lineup for its new series “The WONDERfools”!
On November 1, Netflix confirmed the production of its new series “The WONDERfools” and announced the casting lineup including Park Eun Bin, Cha Eun Woo, Kim Hae Sook, Choi Dae Hoon, Im Sung Jae, and Son Hyun Joo.
“The WONDERfools” is a superpower comic action set in 1999, a time when apocalyptic beliefs were rampant. It follows a group of neighborhood misfits who unexpectedly gain superpowers and fight against villains threatening the peace of Haeseong city.
Park Eun Bin will take on the role of Eun Chae Ni, Haeseong’s biggest trainwreck. Charming and funny, Chae Ni navigates life at the turn of the century in 1999, getting caught up in unforeseen incidents and suddenly gains superpowers.
Cha Eun Woo will play Lee Woon Jung, a special hire civil servant in Haeseong who is somewhat lacking in social skills. Woon Jung is a stickler for rules and principles at work, but outside of City Hall, he is a mysterious figure who teams up with Chae Ni and approaches the series of disappearances occurring in Haeseong with curiosity.
Kim Hae Sook will transform into Chae Ni’s grandmother and her only family member Kim Jeon Bok. She owns a well-known restaurant in Haeseong and has a colorful yet dark past, which piques curiosity.
Choi Dae Hoon will play Son Kyung Hoon, the famous troublemaker of Haeseong, while Im Sung Jae will join as Kang Robin, known by everyone as the biggest pushover of Haeseong. Kyung Hoon and Robin, who get caught up in an incident with Chae Ni and gain flawed superpowers, ultimately team up with Chae Ni to fight against the villains. The Kyung Hoon and Robin duo is expected to create comedic synergy with Chae Ni and Woon Jung, driving the narrative forward.
Son Hyun Joo will take on the role of Ha Won Do, a character who adds tension to the story with his cold and rational demeanor hiding dark desires.
“The WONDERfools” will be helmed by “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” director Yoo In Shik, while the script will be penned by “Extreme Job” writer Heo Da Joong. Kang Eun Kyung of “Dr. Romantic” and “Gyeongseong Creature” will additionally participate as a creator of the drama.
