Park Bo Young shared the reason she joined the cast of “Concrete Utopia,” and showed her affection to co-stars Park Seo Joon and Lee Byung Hun.
After five years, the actress is making a comeback to the big screen with a thriller-sci-fi film.
Helmed by Uhm Tae Hwa of “Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned,” “Concrete Utopia” is based on part 2 of the webtoon “Happy Boy,” which focuses on the survivor’s journey after a devastating earthquake hit Seoul.
During the press conference, Park Bo Young talked about her experiences and thoughts about her movie comeback.
Why Did Park Bo Young Choose ‘Concrete Utopia’ as Her Comeback Movie?
The 33-year-old star dished on an interesting reason she accepted the offer in “Concrete Utopia.” As mentioned by a media outlet, Park Bo Young said it’s mainly because of the script and his senior, Lee Byung Hun, who is also her labelmate.
“I also wanted to do it after seeing the scenario,” she said, referring to the film’s plot.
The actress also said that she asked her agency if there was a role that she could portray and mentioned the CEO’s reply.
“Lee Byung Hun might appear,” the CEO said, to which Park Bo Young thought that it would be a great deal to have a nice plot and amazing co-star.
Moreover, she added that what made her say yes was “50 percent scenario and 50 percent Lee Byung Hun.”

Park Bo Young on Working With Park Seo Joon
In the same press conference, the actress also mentioned fellow lead star Park Seo Joon.
“Concrete Utopia” featured Park Bo Young and the Hallyu actor as married couple Myung Hwa and Min Sung. They are among the few survivors of the earthquake that hit Seoul.
Meanwhile, Lee Byung Hun plays as Young Tak, who acts as the leader whose responsibility is to protect the tenants of their building and keep them safe from possible danger.
On the other hand, Park Bo Young admitted that she felt “awkward” during the initial state of the movie’s filming, especially around Park Seo Joon.
The actress said that it was her first time working with the actor, and as their first filming together, they had to film their wedding scene.
“When I first met Park Seo Joon, I said hello and immediately wore a wedding dress,” she said, adding that she was confused about whether she could put her hand on him.
“We were supposed to look affectionate, but I wondered if I was being impolite,” the actress added.
Thankfully, they got passed the awkward stage and “gradually synchronized and got comfortable” around each other.
“Concrete Utopia” is slated to hit the big screen on August 23.
