Writers Guild of America Names Bong Joon Jo’s ‘Parasite’ One of the Best Screenplays of the 21st Century
In the recent article published by the American media outlet, Deadline, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) revealed the Top 10 Best Screenplays of the 21st Century. Among all the masterpieces that made it to the list, Bong Joon Ho’s Oscar awardee “Parasite” made it as No. 4 hailed as best screenplay, beating six big foreign films.

Meanwhile, Jordan Peele’s directorial movie debut “Get Out” in 2017 topped the list.
The 101 Greatest Screenplays of the 21st Century were voted by the Writers Guilds West and East members. According to the chair of WGAW’s Publicity and Marketing Committee, Aaron Mendelson, the list released is a celebration of the noteworthy writers and screenplays of the last 21 years. He also mentioned that it is a study of how writing for movies has evolved and diversified.

In addition, the movies included in the top 5 won screenwriting in Oscars. Also, “Parasite” is the latest film produced among the listed movies in the top 10.

After “Parasite” met the foreign viewers, the movie immediately earned praise from various biggest film enthusiasts and critics.
As the first non-English language to enter the largest film industry in America, “Parasite” opened more opportunities for other Korean contents to be known globally.
