Top rating Korean drama “Taxi” Driver starring Lee Je Hoon and Esom has a new screenwriter after Oh Sang Ho dropped from the show.
In a new report cited by a local outlet, the SBS drama’s production revealed that the original writer had been replaced by Lee Ji Hyun.
“Taxi Driver” Writer Exits from Drama Due to “Differences” with Director
In an official statement, the production team shared that it was a mutual agreement between the drama and the screenwriter.
Moreover, the representative also revealed that the writer’s exit from the show was rooted due to the “differences” between Oh Sang Ho and “Taxi Driver” director Park Joon Woo.
“The writer Oh Sang-ho has agreed to drop out of the company due to differences in views on the direction of the work between the writer and the director, and Lee Ji Hyun has decided to write the remaining episodes,” a representative from the drama explained as obtained by a South Korean outlet.
To recall, the drama’s former writer created scripts from the first episode up to the 10th episode and was then continued by Lee Ji Hyun till the season finale.
Oh Sang Ho has written various films, including the 2006 “The Legend of 7 Cutter,” followed by “White Night,” “Codename: Jackal,” and the 2017 action thriller drama “Fabricated City.”
As for the new screenwriter of “Taxi Driver,” his famous works includes the 2013 movie “Secret Travel” and thriller drama film “The Plan” starring Shin Eun Kyung and Oh In Hye.

“Taxi Driver” Soars in Ratings Despite Change in Drama Writers
Despite the change in screenwriter, the SBS evening drama continues to reign in viewership rating.
In their episode 11, aired on May 14, the crime mystery series scored an average nationwide rating of 12.4 percent and 14.6 percent for its two parts.
This made “Taxi Driver” the most-watched Friday evening drama as it managed to pique the interest of the audience with its impeccable storyline, stunning visuals, and not to mention the actors’ astounding portrayals.
Interestingly, the latest episode of the hit drama garnered an average
15 percent ratings, cementing its spot as the number one Friday and Saturday evening program.
“The Uncanny Counter” Writer Quits the Show
This is not the first time that an evening drama announced a change in scriptwriter midday through the show.
In January 2021, OCN’s “The Uncanny Counter” revealed that their writer, Yeo Ji Na, resigned from the drama.
At the time, an outlet shared the reason behind the unexpected change in the evening show.
“Due to differing opinions on the latter episodes, writer Yeo Ji Na stepped down from the drama as a result of mutual agreement.”
Yeo Jin Na wrote the first episode till the 12th while PD Yoo Sun Dong took over the remaining episodes until the season finale.
