NewJeans appeared as special guests at YOASOBI’s Asia Tour 2024-2025 concert held on December 7th at Inspire Arena in Incheon. The group performed their hit song “How Sweet” and added to the synergy of the evening.
However, fans noticed something unusual during their appearance—the girls omitted any mention of their group name while introducing themselves. Traditionally, the members greet audiences with, “Hello, we’re NewJeans,” followed by individual introductions like, “I’m [member’s name] from NewJeans.”
At the YOASOBI concert, the group greeted the audience with a simple “Hello” and introduced themselves individually without referencing NewJeans. This sparked a wave of disappointment among fans, with many commenting, “It’s such a shame.”
This change stems from NewJeans’ recent legal situation. On November 28th, the group held a press conference announcing their decision to terminate their exclusive contract with ADOR, effective midnight on November 29th. However, ADOR owns the trademark for the “NewJeans” name, restricting the group’s ability to use it for the foreseeable future.
At the time, NewJeans addressed the issue, saying, “The five of us may be unable to use the name ‘NewJeans’ for now, but this doesn’t change the essence of who we are. We are committed to securing full rights to the name and its trademark.”
