NewJeans has made history as the first K-pop artist to appear on the cover of the American fashion magazine HommeGirls.
On October 17, HommeGirls unveiled photos and articles featuring NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein) as the cover stars of its Fall/Winter 2024 issue (Volume 12) through its official social media and website.
For the cover, NewJeans exuded stylish charm with chic, plaid-patterned outfits, showcasing their signature adorable visuals. The feature takes a more intimate approach by using a “love letter” format to tell NewJeans’ story.
HommeGirls described the group as a global K-pop sensation, writing, “they are each unique—their most special quality is their unity. NewJeans are perfect synchronicity.” The magazine further praised the group’s chemistry, adding, “NewJeans is a closed set of perfectly distinct, symmetrically individualized components, and that is their appeal. Their lovely complementarity and multi-colored coherence is pleasing because it assures us that good things are possible.”
On the subject of their music, HommeGirls noted, “If NewJeans were only about happiness, they would be boring, and this would be a boring story. Actually, listening to NewJeans also evokes the bittersweet melancholy of passing youth and, frequently, young love.” The magazine added, “If you have never listened to NewJeans, you should now.”
HommeGirls is known for breaking gender boundaries in fashion, blending menswear and womenswear while setting new trends in the industry.
