The Netflix Kdrama The 8 Show directed by Han Jae Rim, known for his work on The King and The Face Reader, has revealed both its official poster as well as the trailer for this highly anticipated series. This is actually Han Jae Rim’s first foray into a Netflix series.
The cast includes Ryu Jun Yeol, Chun Woo Hee, Park Jung Min, Lee Yul Eum, Park Hae Jun, Lee Joo Young, Moon Jeong Hee, and Bae Seong Woo, which promises to be an exciting experience.
In The 8 Show, we discover the tantalizing but dangerous story of eight people trapped in a secret eight-story building. They participate in a show where “time equals money”, a concept as attractive as it is risky. On the launch poster, the actors are depicted against a backdrop of red curtains, under the spotlight, in a mixture of excitement and caution.
The essence of the piece is summed up concisely by the diversity of their outfits, from the shirt to the dress to the suit, and the slogan “The irresistible but brutal spectacle begins.” The beginning of the trailer is marked by the narration: “Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for your patience,” as Ryu Jun Yeol walks through the door. Guaranteed high remuneration, food and accommodation, the eight participants just need to devote their “time” to participate in “The 8 Show”.
Within the enigmatic space divided into eight levels, they will navigate through cooperation, opposition and betrayal, experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions.
The 8 Show is a highly anticipated new addition to Netflix’s lineup because although the series is adapted from Bae Jin Soo’s hit webtoons, “Money Game” and “Pie Game,” which have garnered 300 million views, director Han Jae Rim skillfully reinterpreted these stories by directing them and telling them solidly. The series will arrive on Netflix on May 17.
