Nam Yoon Su has shared his thoughts on his upcoming drama “Love in the Big City”!
Based on the bestselling novel by Park Sang Young, “Love in the Big City” is a carefully crafted drama that blends comedy, classic romance, and romantic comedy. The series will follow young writer Go Young (Nam Yoon Su) as he navigates the ups and downs of life and love, with Park Sang Young himself adapting the script to capture the original’s charm.
On October 16, the cast and crew of the drama gathered for a press conference. Attendees included writer Park Sang Young, directors Son Tae Gyum, Hur Jin Ho, Hong Ji Young, and Kim Se In, along with actors Nam Yoon Su, Kwon Hyuk, Oh Hyun Kyung, Na Hyun Woo, Jin Ho Eun, and Kim Won Joong.
Nam Yoon Su, who plays Go Young, a gay character, shared his thoughts on the role, saying, “I didn’t feel any pressure or doubt about taking on this role. The original work had strong artistic value, so I wasn’t worried.”
He added, “During my meetings with the directors, I noticed their unique styles and elegance, which gave me confidence. I trusted that and immersed myself in the role. I wanted to showcase the kind of acting I could do well, which is why I chose this project.”
Regarding working with four different directors, Nam Yoon Su explained, “Each director had their own style of feedback, filming techniques, tone, and lighting. Their individual charms will be reflected in each episode, and my character will feel different across the episodes”
He continued, “The directors made the filming environment comfortable, like working with friends or colleagues. When they led with strong leadership, I felt like I was being carried along by the flow, like drifting with the tide.”
Nam Yoon Su reflected on the varying tone of the series, saying, “The first two stores are fun, while the third and fourth stories are more serious and intense. As we filmed, my trust in the project grew.”
Regarding negative reactions to the drama, Nam Yoon Su commented, “I didn’t pay much attention to them. Every time I woke up, I found over 100 encouraging messages. I feel like people’s perspectives are constantly changing.”
“Love in the Big City” premieres on October 21 and will be available on Viki!
