Nam Yoon Su recently shared the heartfelt reason behind his decision to donate a kidney to his father.

On July 17th, Nam Yoon Su revealed his thoughts on the kidney donation, saying, “It was simply something I had to do. Now, looking back, I’m happy to have given my father many good days ahead.”

“I’m truly grateful to the fans who sent me their support after first learning about this through the news, and to the hospital staff who took care of us so warmly over the past few days,” he added. “Moving forward, I want to be someone who can reach out in times of fear and hesitation. I also sincerely support those patients who are waiting for their own transplants.”

According to his agency, Agency Garten, Nam Yoon Su underwent kidney transplant surgery for his father on June 19th. The agency stated, “To ensure a successful surgery, he paused his activities earlier this year to focus on preparation. Both Nam Yoon Su and his father have recovered quickly and have been discharged from the hospital.”

Eunpyeong St. Mary’s Hospital of the Catholic University of Korea, which performed the surgery, commented, “Nam Yoon Su donated his kidney to his father, helping to cure his illness. Both donor and recipient have recovered swiftly. Throughout the process, from preparation to discharge, Nam Yoon Su maintained a positive attitude and bright smile. His deep care for his family undoubtedly contributed to the successful outcome. We hope he continues to be a positive influence in society.”

Born in 1997, Nam Yoon Su debuted as a model in 2014. He gained recognition through dramas such as Extracurricular, The King’s Affection, and Today’s Webtoon. He has completed filming for the drama Love in the Big City, set to be released on OTT platforms later this year.
