Na In Woo has officially been exempted from military service.
On December 17, Sports Chosun reported that Na In Woo has recently been exempted from military service after spending three years awaiting a call-up as a public service worker. Following his Grade 4 classification (non-active duty) during the military physical examination, he was scheduled for alternative service but did not receive a summons from the Military Manpower Administration within the required time frame, making him eligible for exemption.
According to South Korea’s Military Service Act, individuals classified as Grade 4 who are not summoned within three years are granted peacetime exemption. Since 2019, over 10,000 individuals each year have reportedly received this exemption, with approximately the same number added this year, including Na In Woo.
Na In Woo’s agency HANADA Company confirmed the news, stating, “It is true that Na In Woo has been exempted from military service by the Military Manpower Administration. Since it was based on the Military Manpower Administration’s decision, we have no further comments to make.”
When asked if his Grade 4 classification was due to a preexisting health condition, the agency replied, “We are unsure. We would need to confirm with Na In Woo himself, but he is currently filming.”
Na In Woo is currently gearing up for the premiere of his upcoming MBC drama “Motel California” alongside Lee Se Young, set to air on January 10, 2025.
