Upcoming drama “Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born” has shared new stills featuring Moon So Ri and Kim Tae Ri!
Based on a popular webtoon, the upcoming drama is directed by Jung Ji In, known for “The Red Sleeve.” Set in the 1950s, shortly after the Korean War, the series follows Jeong Nyeon (Kim Tae Ri), a young vocal prodigy who dreams of becoming a top traditional theater actor. The show explores Jeong Nyeon’s journey through competition, teamwork, and personal growth amid a difficult era for the nation.
Moon So Ri plays Seo Yong Rye, Jeong Nyeon’s mother, who raised her child alone. Yong Rye strongly opposes Jeong Nyeon’s dream of becoming a traditional theater actress, creating conflict between the once-close mother and daughter.
The first image depicts Jeong Nyeon’s mother Seo Yong Rye. Her rough face, weathered by the sea winds, and her hunched shoulders, burdened by the hard life of working by the sea, evoke sympathy from viewers. Her stern and determined gaze hints at a deep, unspoken sorrow, sparking curiosity about her story.
The following stills capture Seo Yong Rye with her daughter Jeong Nyeon. In one photo, Seo Yong Rye is seen scolding Jeong Nyeon while they walk through the mudflats; in another, she gently places Jeong Nyeon on her lap and affectionately cares for her.
Moon So Ri and Kim Tae Ri previously portrayed a mother and daughter in the film “Little Forest.” The two actresses reportedly traveled to Mokpo together to study the local dialect in preparation for their roles, demonstrating their dedication to portraying a believable mother-daughter relationship. As a result, expectations are high for the synergy the two actresses will show in “Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born.”
“Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born” premieres on October 12 at 9:20 p.m. KST.
