Remember the heartbreaking love story of Hae Soo (IU) and Wang So (Lee Joon-gi) that spans time and space in 2016? It will soon be adapted into a Thai version. This version of the iconic K-drama “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” is in the works. GMMTV, the famous Thai television company, has revealed a teaser for their 2025 adaptation titled “Scarlet Heart Thailand”.
With an all-star cast including GMMTV’s biggest stars like Win Metawin, Tu Tontawan, Nanon Korapat and more, this historical romantic T-drama tells the story of a modern young woman transported back to the time when Thailand was a monarchy. She wakes up in the body of her past incarnation, living in the mansion of a prince. As she adjusts to her new life, she befriends several princes and becomes embroiled in their power struggles for the throne.
The original novel eventually evolved into much larger works, such as the 2011 Chinese adaptation “Scarlet Heart” (步步惊心, Bu Bu Jing Xin) and the 2016 K-drama sensation “Moon Lovers : Scarlet Heart Ryeo,” starring IU, Lee Joon-gi, and Kang Ha-neul. Judging by the costumes in the teaser, the T-drama appears to be set during the period Rattanakosin.
Tu Tontawan plays Hae Soo/Ruo Xi
Headlining the series is model and actress Tu Tontawan, known for her role in “F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers,” who will play the character of Hae Soo/Ruo Xi. A modern young woman, Tu is thrown into the past where she meets the princes and charms everyone throughout her journey. This will be the second time that Tu plays with Win after “F4 Thailand”.
Win Metawin as 4th Prince Wang So/Yin Zhen
GMMTV’s crown prince, Win, is tipped to play the 4th Prince, the main male character. This character, despised all his life, aspires to be accepted by his family and his subjects. His self-confidence is shaken by harsh criticism, making him defensive and angry. His hardened heart begins to soften when he falls in love with Tu’s character, although their love seems doomed to tragedy.
Nanon Korapat as 8th Prince Wang Wook/Yin Si
Nanon plays the 8th Prince, a key rival in the fight for love and the throne against the 4th Prince played by Win. In the plot, despite being born to a simple palace servant, the 8th Prince is driven by a burning desire to gain the respect of his brothers and the court, thus fueling his quest for supreme power. He is distinguished by his intelligence, gentleness and tenderness, but faces an inner conflict as he is torn between his romantic feelings and his political ambitions.
Tay Tawan as 3rd Prince Wang Yo/Yin Zi
In the film’s teaser, Tay is seen sitting on a chair, symbolizing the 3rd Prince’s ambition for the throne. The 3rd Prince is the perfect bad boy, hungry for power and glory. Fans are eager to see Tay in a villainous role (contrasting her playful and bright personality), escalating her rivalry with the 4th Prince while looking exceptionally attractive.
Force Jiratchapong as 9th Prince Wang Won/Yin Tang
Debuting in 2017, Force quickly became a rising star. In the teaser, he lights a flame, illustrating his character’s tendency to provoke conflict. Ally of the 3rd Prince, the 9th Prince is the perfect villain: resentful and narcissistic, but probably capable of charming a few hearts.
Perth Tanapon as 10th Prince Wang Eun/Yin É
Famous for his role as Ae in “Love by Chance,” Perth is also a talented musician. Initially, the 10th Prince falls in love with Tu’s character, and his playful antics brighten up the darkest days. This role reflects Perth’s real-life personality, making him a fan-favorite choice.
Phuwin Tangsakyuen as 13th Prince Baek Ah / Yin Xiang
Beloved by fans of the novel, the 13th Prince stands out as an unconventional royal who enjoys an independent life outside the palace walls. His relaxed and steadfast demeanor allows him to relate to Tu’s character, who embodies a 21st century mentality, making him her closest confidant. His unwavering loyalty to his brother, the 4th Prince, adds to his charm, making him truly irresistible.
Fourth Nattawat as 14th Prince Wang Jung/Yinti
The 14th prince is known for his selfless and unconditional love. He silently supports Tu’s character through her emotional turmoil and stays by her side until the end. This will be Fourth’s first time playing alongside Nanon, whom he admires and aspires to emulate. So it is very exciting to see what their on-screen chemistry will be.
