Byun Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon delivered a heartwarming happy ending in the final episode of tvN’s Lovely Runner.
The drama dominated its Monday-Tuesday time slot for eight consecutive weeks, pulling in an average nationwide viewership rating of 5.8%, with a peak of 6.9%.
The finale saw Ryu Sun Jae (played by Byun Woo Seok) finally regain all his memories of Im Sol (Kim Hye Yoon). Tears streamed down their faces as they reunited, finally free from the hold of their cruel fate. “Why are you crying?” Sun Jae asked. “Did you cry like this every day when I was gone? Missing the one who forgot you?” He confessed his unchanging love again, saying, “I remember everything. It all came back. Why did you do that? How could you think of erasing yourself from my memories? How could you let me live without you? Did you really believe that would work?” The two then sealed their reunion with a passionate kiss, leaving viewers touched by their love.
Meanwhile, Kim Young Soo (Heo Hyeong Gyoo), who was fleeing to avoid Kim Tae Sung (Song Geon Hee), was hit by an oncoming truck. He fell into the water and met his death, putting an end to his tenacious grudge against the couple.
Back to the lovely couple, Ryu Sun Jae confessed to Lim Sol, “The time I spent forgetting you feels like an eternity. I can’t bear the thought of being apart from you for even a moment.” They finally found joy again, enjoying secret dates as a top star and a film company employee. Sun Jae proposed to her with a simple yet heartfelt plea, “Sol, please spend the rest of your life with me.” With a future filled with shared moments stretching before them, Lovely Runner concluded on a beautiful and hopeful note.
