Writer Lee Si Eun acknowledges the difficulty of finding the perfect actor, a common challenge in drama productions. “The character of Seon Jae had to be a swimmer, a high schooler, a college student and an adult,” she explained. “After seeing Byun Woo Seok in Netflix movie 20th Century Girl, I knew he was exactly who we needed. Our first meeting confirmed it – it felt like Seon Jae himself was walking into the room.”
The sizzling on-screen chemistry between Byun Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon fueled rumors of a real-life romance. Director Yoon Jong Ho addressed this speculation with a surprising confession. “Honestly, while filming, I couldn’t help but think, ‘I wish they would date,’” he admitted. “I think the viewers felt the same way, and I even mentioned it to the actors themselves. Their acting was phenomenal, and I wanted to capture that genuine romantic energy they created.”
