Korean movies “Love Reset,” “Concrete Utopia,” and “Exhuma” took over the hearts of fans in North America in the first half of 2024!
The rom-com film “Love Reset” starring Kang Ha Neul and Jung So Min was released in North America for the first time via Rakuten Viki at the end of December last year. Since then, the film placed No. 1 in the TVOD (Transactional Video on Demand) cumulative sales rank among Rakuten Viki movies available in the United States and Canada in the first half of 2024.
Following “Love Reset,” “Concrete Utopia” starring Lee Byung Hun, Park Seo Joon, and Park Bo Young as well as “Exhuma” starring Choi Min Sik, Yoo Hae Jin, Kim Go Eun, and Lee Do Hyun ranked No. 2 and No.3 in cumulative TVOD sales chart on Viki, respectively. It is notable that both films deal with rather heavy and dark topics such as dystopia and occult.
More films across various genres including “Alienoid: Return to the Future,” “12.12: The Day,” and “Citizen of a Kind” also ranked high in the cumulative TVOD sales rank.
Rakuten Viki is a global OTT platform that provides video streaming services for Asian dramas and films in more than 190 countries around the world. In the second half of this year, Viki plans to release more films including “Drive,” an action thriller movie starring Park Ju Hyun, and “Yumi’s Cells: the movie,” which is the animated film of the popular rom-com series “Yumi’s Cells.”
