The upcoming film “About Family” has dropped new stills!
“About Family” tells the story of the owner of Pyungmanok, a popular dumpling restaurant, who suddenly finds himself living with unexpected guests—two adorable grandchildren he never knew he had. Ham Moo Ok (Kim Yun Seok), the owner of the restaurant, believed his family line had ended when his son Ham Moon Seok (Lee Seung Gi) became a monk.
The new stills showcase the film’s complicated family dynamics, giving a glimpse of the chemistry between the characters. They highlight the awkward relationship between father and son, Ham Moo Ok and Ham Moon Seok, as well as the subtle romantic tension between Ham Moo Ok and Mrs. Bang (Kim Sung Ryung). The film also previews the unique bond between Ham Moon Seok and Han Ga Yeon (Kang Han Na), who are now close friends despite being exes.
One still shows Ham Moo Ok and Ham Moon Seok sitting side by side, avoiding eye contact, hinting at the strained relationship between father and son. Their lack of communication, which began after Ham Moon Seok became a monk, sets the stage for how their dynamic will shift with the unexpected arrival of their grandchildren.
Another still shows Mrs. Bang taking care of Ham Moo Ok. This adds a touch of comedy and romance, highlighting their subtle chemistry. A separate still of Moon Seok and Ga Yeon, shown as former lovers in their 20s, adds intrigue and sparks interest in their backstory.
Lastly, a still of Moon Seok and Monk In Haeng (Park Soo Young) shows Moon Seok helping the injured monk with his meals. This reversal of their usual roles—master and disciple—adds a comedic element, building excitement for the film’s diverse appeal.
“About Family” is set to hit theaters on December 11.
