Upcoming film “About Family” has offered a sneak peek of Lee Seung Gi’s character!
“About Family” tells the story of the owner of Pyungmanok, a popular dumpling restaurant, who suddenly finds himself living with unexpected guests—adorable grandchildren he never knew he had. The owner, Ham Moo Ok (Kim Yun Seok), believed his family line had ended when his son Ham Moon Seok (Lee Seung Gi) became a monk.
The film highlights the unique appeal of this family comedy, featuring Lee Seung Gi’s striking transformation alongside Kim Yun Seok’s performance. Audiences are especially impressed by Lee Seung Gi’s dedication in shaving his head for his role as a monk. He portrays Ham Moon Seok, who breaks away from his father to pursue a monastic life. While he gains fame as a beloved superstar monk, he becomes embroiled in a shocking scandal when a live broadcast reveals that he has hidden children.
Director Yang Woo Seok discussed the casting for the film, saying, “To play the character of Ham Moon Seok, often referred to as the ‘perfect son,’ we needed an actor who is not only good-looking, smart, tall, and academically accomplished but also excels in many other ways. The first actor that came to mind was Lee Seung Gi.”
Lee Seung Gi added, “When I found out that Kim Yun Seok, an actor I’ve always respected, was joining the film, I didn’t need much time to think about it. Given the excellent script, I felt there was no reason to hesitate about shaving my head.” He committed to the role and the head shave as soon as he learned Kim Yun Seok would be his co-star.
“About Family” is set to hit theaters on December 11.
